I have seen quite a few other brands of atv's which come factory electric start and can be converted to kick start.
Has anyone on this site done this to their 400ex? I would really like to get rid of the battery/lights/etc etc and would love to have the reliability of a kick start.
I ride Glamis very often and rather than keeping an extra battery around i'd much rather just kick it over.
Anyone? I appreciate it

You would get much faster respnse and answere if you just search the 400ex forum and put in "Kickstart" There are already tons of threads discussing it.

quite sure I had an issue with the search then because it came up with no results the first time I ran the search. Found the threads I should have seen the first go round
thanks

THe only way you can make a 400 a kick start is if you got a XR400 bottom end or if you just decided to swap a kick motor for the 400 motor. Thats the only way I know of. Hope this is some help to you.

after reading about my options i've decided to buy a 2nd battery and just keep it with me incase this one takes a dump...
Kicker seems way too much of a hassle on the 400

There was one or two years (early 2000)? of the xr400 that was even water cooled. A guy down from me has one but wont come off of it.
