www.powroll.com make one hell of a nice kit. Although it's only 440 cc.

FYI--Anything over a +4mm stroker will require additional mods, to either the trans, counterbalancer, etc(?). Are you looking for power without regard to reliability, or power and reliability?

Have you checked out hotrods 460 kit?

I went with powroll and couldn't be happier. The machine has been as reliable as a stocker, with a lot more power. If you're mechanically inclined, 2 grand can build you one hell of a motor. The money you save on labor can buy more speed parts.

i dotn hav the tools to do it myself or i would. i hav a friend that owns a engine shop so they are gonna do it for resonably cheap.. im thinkin of gettin a 11:1 wiseco piston, stg 2 cam, p&p, 450r carb and probably the hotrods +4mm crank, hd rod, hd studs, larger oil tank. is there anything else im missing?

Yes, buy a HD cam chain as well, C&D sells them for 33 bones.

Also, ditch the stg 2 idea, step up to a stage 3/stroker cam. The longer stroke needs all the duration it can get to fill the cylinder.

Don't worry about torque loss, even with a stg 3, a stroker will have far more low end than a stocker.

head work is generally where all the power an engine makes comes from...

I'd certainly get the top end done as well, completely.

The Powroll stroker crank is only a 440 with the std size piston. Use this with a 440 big bore piston and you will have a 460EX. HotRods may be cheaper though. I have heard you can get a stroker crank from them for around the same as the work done to your crank by Powroll.

This way you will have a new top end as well anyway. As far as new valves... depends on how they look. You may get away with just re-seating them. Also adjust the clearance when the engine is back together. Head work will definitely help as well.

Also you will need to buy a piston for the longer stroke or mod yours anyway, so buy new. ;)

A powroll stroker kit does not use the stock size piston.

Stock is 85mm bore x 70mm stroke.

Powroll is a 87mm bore x 74mm stroke.

Powroll is more expensive than a hotrods kit, IMO it's worth it.

I have a GT Thunder stroker kit in mine and it's actually a 458 if you calculate the displacement: 87mm bore (short skirt 416 piston) X 77mm stroke.

It walks all over any 400 I put it up against and keeps up with decently modded 450's with ease.

Laz at GT Thunder does great work and he can set you up with a nice kit for a reasonable price. The full motor in my sig was built by him, and it is every bit as reliable as when the quad was bone stock. Been running the kit for 2 years now with no issues.

The Powroll is a nice stroker kit too but you will be limited to 440cc's unless you can find a suitable big bore piston that will work with the crank.

Yes, I appoligies I was just coming to correct myself. Stock bore with a +4 crank would be a 420cc (not the 425 Powroll states it as). The 440 stroker, bore wise, is simply a 416EX stroked.

As far as Hotrods cranks, it is about $155 LESS, and you don't have to give them your stock crank (can sell for a few bucks).

HOTRODS- piston only is $265. I can only find the 89mm.

POWROLL- $305 for a full big bore (87mm-89.5mm) and $220 is for a piston and gasket kit only, yet the only one I see is the 89.5mm (440 overbore) All of these work with the stroker cranks.

well i live in canada so it will cost too much for shippin anywhere. i can get all the work done for about $40 an hour which isnt very much compared to all the other shops. they also hav a dyno so i kno how much of a difference it all will make...
