Hello I am desperate for help here

I recently installed a 416 J.E. 10.1 kit, hotcams 2, crf450 cam chain, and 450r carb.

I am running a K180, 3rd notch on needle, 48 pilot, and 2.5 turns on fuel screw. Here is what I need help with:

1) First, when I turn the 4 wheeler on it IDLES REALLY HIGH. I tried adjusting the throttle cable, but all that did was lower the rpms (but not enough) and it would shut off when you spike the throttle.

2) Second what is the screw that comes out of the carb and has the black spindle? How do you adjust it?

Do I need to go up on the pilot jet?

Thanks for all your help!

Probably an air leak. Did you plug the hole where the hot start goes (or would go on a 450r)?

If thats the hole on the top/front part of the carb, yes. I plugged it with a vaccum plug and filled the rest of the reamaing hole with silicone.

Do you know what the black spindle on the left side of my four wheeler is for? thanks

Black plastic knob? That's the idle adjustment. It's a throttle stop screw that limits how far down the slide is able to travel. That's probably your issue if you haven't adjusted it.

How do you adjust it? Do you turn it in clockwise to raise the rpm's and turn it counterclockwise to lower the rpm's? Do you adjust the screwdriver bolt inside the black spindle? Im really confused.....

And I used a dremel on my intake boot, is that ok?
