I have a 95 F150 with a 351W in it, and to my suprise its single trac :(

What is a cheap way to make both wheels spin? I dont want to weld the spider gears, my dad says it makes it real hard to drive. What should I do?

you could put a locker in the rear

250-400 dollar range. you can go cheap and weld the gears together but i dont really reccomend it

You may just have to change the diff fluid and add the limited slip additve. My truck has limited slip (both wheels spin unless one is stuck, than the other will spin) Well, both quit spinning at the same time no matter what.

Changed the fluid and added the additive and the limited slip was working again.

if ya wanna be really cheap then next time your stuck just put your emergency brake on. it will (hopefully) put enough pressure on the one tire thats spinning so that your other tire will turn i.e if one tires on ice an the other on pavement, i had a 92 f250 2wd and it got me out of a few tite spots

wow, never heard the emergency brake thing before, just remember if it isnt used often that the cable could stick and never retract leaving the back brakes on (whatever) you have to spend a couple hundred and buy new inerds for your differential

definately a locker. do not weld the spiders together. puts a ton of strain everything in there. not to mention any slag that gets in there and grinds up your ring and pinion. definately not a cheap fix;)

check out this linklocking differential (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D730931&N=700+115&autoview=sku)

if i remember right your truck has a 9" rear in it. if you are unsure, the 9" rear does not have a rear cover on it. everything comes out from the front

I welded up the spiders in my jeep because I broke the teeth on them one day.

I dont recomened it if you drive more than 10 miles. I drove my jeep like tha for mabie 2,500 miles. I had brand new tires on the back and it ate them suckers up fast. Also ruins your mpg big time.

Get a locker! Keep in mind having it installed isnt the easyest thing in the world.

go to 4wheelparts.com and look up your truck in the drivetrain section and get a mini-locker, does the same thing as a full locker but cheaper because instead of changing everything but the ring and pinion it just replaces the spider gears. if i remember right they run about 300 bucks or so, i looked into doing both front and rear difs in my 79 ford plus new ring and pinion and install kits and i think it was about 800-900 for EVERYTHING...

Has anyone ever heard the rumor that you can fill a non-limited slip differential housing with SILLY PUTTY and it will act like a posi? I have just heard this but have never seen it or tried it lol.

Go with a locker. Welding the rear end is something you only do on an off road only truck. It is also not legal to have a welded rear end on the streets. It changes the handling they dont want to turn easy. My brother inlaw has a Blazer with toyota axles under it with a welded rear end and a locker up front man does it work good but it's off road only.

We welded the rear end together of my '68 IH mud-truck and that lasted about a week before the rear end exploded.

corect me if im wrong. But a mini spool is basicly the same thing as welding your spider gears. Possi all the time, just more rugged being its one solid unit.

look in summit racing or jegs and yes it replace's the spider gears and locks both rear axle shafts together.
