i was at the track today on my third lap and hit a decent step up and had the piece that connect my shock to the a-arms break off!!! it tore a hole in the a-arm and sidelinned me for about a half hour, but after looking at the weld on my machine i saw why this would have happened, i think honda needs to teach there men how to weld. them welds are uuuuugly:(

that hasnt happened to me, but i over shot a double and i guess the bolt that held the back of my airbox vibrated out and it snapped the right support and ripped the airbox of the carb....:(

i replaced that air box mount with one i made from aluminum flat stock. i also replaced he side ones to. they don't look super nice but function before style.

true that, if it holds, who cares, it holds, but, if bolts are rattilin out, try loc-tight, and alot of it

It happened to me too!:grr Except it happened on my 300ex. I agree, that area is the weakest link on the shock! That is one of the reasons why I went with aftermarket shocks for both machines.

I noticed that ALL welds are less than desireable! Kindy shabby for dishing out 9g's (canadian)

Hey Otawa. What machine are you talking about. and if your talking about a 400ex. WOW you got hosed if you payed 9G's. Where I live you can get them for around 7g's and thats with tax. I live in the hamilton area. Do you race CMRC??

09-25-2002, 08:09 AM
Well, it was 8499 plus taxes. SO I guess I got hosed!
I dont race yet, but plan to next year. I got a membership at sandelee - and have been practicing there lots. Have you been there before?

i guess the welding is better on the 250r's than on the 400ex's. ive never heard of a 250r shock ripping off. just small problems with frame cracks (400ex has them too).
