Ok yall, as you can see in my sig what im currently running. What I want to change for my winter project is bumping the piston up to a 12:5, or a 13:1 compression. Im going to add a stage 2 hotcam, boysen quickshot fuel pump accelorator, and GT thunder HD studs. My question is, should I remove the +6 advanced timing key if I go highier compression, or am I having a better setup if I stick with the +6 key, and the 11:1? I really really dont think I should run it (12:5, or 13:1 with the key, even if I was to run pure 110) I already mix 50/50 and I figure if I gop up it will eaither stay the same mix, or go pure 110, depends on the offset of the key vs. the piston. Thanks.

With that high compression you are correct the +6 key will create to much heat and cause knocking in your motor even with good fuel. I really like the gains you get with the key and 11:1 but you will get more power for the higher comp. We build alot of 400ex motors and my favorite one is the 13:1 426 with the FCR carb and porting those motors really fly in the 400ex. We offer a pump gas key for $20 that you could use with the higher comp and race fuel and still get some of the gains without creating to much heat

Thanks colby. Thats what I needed to know. If it was worth getting the bigger compression piston, or leave it alone. Is that 13:1 running on 50/50 or 110? Im in michigan and about 1000ft above sea level. Temps usually about 80 in the summer. Do you sell those pistons/ top end gasket kit?

I recommend thermal coating the 13:1 piston and it can be run on a 50/50 mix at temps in the 80's. We de sell the piston kit is is $130 and the gaskets are $40

Thanks colby. I am assuming that the price for $130 os with the coating, or is there an additional price. maybe it was my mistake due to how you worded it. Anyways, is that a JE piston, because I didnt think that wiseico had a 13:1. Thanks.

Thanks colby. I looked at your web page, I seen that for the $130 it list that is comes with gaskets. Is that the base gasket set, and the top end gasket is the additional $40?

sorry the info on the website is incorrect

the JE 13:1 piston is $140 and the thermal coat is $40 and the gaskets are $40.
