What type of intakes do all the CRF hybrids use here? I think I have the Suzuki lt250 one. It has such a gnarly curve in it to avoid the rear shock I'd be willing to bet it resticts airflow. I think I read somewhere that the Suzuki lt500 worked pretty good. I have a trx250r UM airbox. Needs to be 4" to accomadate the filter opening.

Any help?

just to let ya know the opening on the lt500 boot is 4 & 3/8''

Is it 4- 3/8 inside or outside diameter? If it'd 4" inside...it's all good. Do you have one?

He can't use that style of boot unless the tube was lengthend, because he is running a no link which has a much greater shock angle, the airbox needs to be shorter also, and or moved back, but usually both.

that is the same set up as me but the frame has been cut and reformed so the boot goes pretty much through where the frame used to be

400ex frames are pretty simple , just use the stock air boot w/minor mods. What I want to see is air boots for aftermarket frames. Particularly no-link frames. I just got a custom molded air boot made for a houser frame, but I think it's made out of latex. Whatever it's made of it is not compatible with higher heat. And I don't mean real high just moderate heat.
I just wondered if their was an air boot off of some odd ball machine that might work for these custom hybrid frames. I am interested to see a quadracer 500 boot set up. It looks promising!

Wilbur,

The pic in the first post is my set-up. I have a Houser no-link frame and I "believe" I have a lt250r boot. But, I don't like how it has such a radical bend in it. I would like a more straight thru flow of air.

That is a ltr 500 quadzilla boot at least thaats what i ordered for it i tried several different boots and that one performed best out of the threee others i built my dyno really liked that boot in fact we built another crf walsh hybrid and we used the same boot without the air box for ice racing and that boot worked out best without the box most flow i spent several days making that boot work hope you like my old quad i sure miss it treat her nice...Chris

Hey Chris,

You bet your *** I'm treating her right. I absolutely love the thing. I replaced that leaky head gasket and while I was in there I dropped in a JE 12.5:1 piston. She goes REALLY good now. Everywhere I ride, the quad is a real head turner. Everyone loves it.

BTW Chris I sent you a PM...maybe it didn't go thru. I need the original Bill of Sale you wrote up a while ago. CHP won't do diddly squat with a fax copy. Need the original.

this is lsr frame and its a yzf, but its very close in geometry to your houser (since the no links are mounted nearly identical) hope this helps, This intake breaths huge, My jetting was insane with this setup, I think I was around a 205 main, on the 39fcr. I would try to lean it and it would just starve.

400ex frame an 450r motor.

Its a stock 400ex intake but with a piece of muffler pipe. and some rubber plumbing connections.

When I buildt it, it was just for mock up. But so far it hasent given me any troble so I have just kept running it.

I had to space it back farther so I could run the stock rear shock with resivor. Shock has to be mounted backwards to cleer motor.

thank you 1fst400

after ripping intake boots and the carb coming off atleast 10 times while i was riding or racing your setup is PERFECT for my crf.

i used a 4 inch long piece of extremly thick radiator hose and an inch wide piece of exhuast tubing and bingo, ( the hose it much sturdier and sits atop the rear frame rail so it supports my card really well) i have a um airbox so when i moved it back i had to cut it off so now its only about an inch past the filter instead of 6 inches, its basically like a three sided shield for my filter now and there is no back so its open straight out the back of the box for even more air to get to the filter (the bottom and sides keep roost of hitting it so its all gravy now)

I had my own made, and dyno'd it to be the best that it could be. I'll post a pic up later, but I used a combo of 3" dia. pipe and rubber. I have the houser nolink setup
