you can do both but i am way more comfortable on the flats. it feels like your gonna lose it when you take off on an edge. like the riders in a half pipe take off on an edge but regular jumps i try to stay flat as prossible

exactly this little 10th grade poser talks about snowboarding everyday in my comtech class.. he trys to act like he knows everything.. he said no one goes off flat..
If you go off on an edge you land on your edge and kill your ankles..
yea half pipe always on an edge

haven't you ever watched people cork spins? they have to go off on an edge. Almost all the time you spin your gonna go off on an edge to get the momentum into it. Also, if you snowboard I think you'd be able to know what im talking about.

If you are spinning, corking, or some type of flip spin variation then you deffinatly have to go off on your edge.

Unless your the kid that winds up like a helicopter before it and spins on the lip and cuts it in half.

Just picked up a new Burton Twin, cant wait to hit the park this year.

And as for the question:

Pipe: Edge

Jump: Flat - You can easily do a 180 off of the flat too, 360 is where you start needing the edges.

Rail: Flat..(you better hope your flat on a rail ) :p

I love it. Its definatley the best board a have ever bought. But the one thing that kinda sucks is I have been getting more into park and less into all mountain and I'm kinda wishing I had a more freestyle oriented board with a little bit more flex.

You can do either really. I would go off an edge to hit a huge jump.. But thats just me lol. You definetly do need to go off an edge for anythign much more than a 180 though.

This year ive got the same board as last year lol, Its an 04 (i think) Burton Custom.
