what oil to use in rear differential/gearcase?

i need to change the oil in the rear diff. what oil am i supposed to use in it? somehow the drain bolt worked its way out and it ran dry for a little while. i plan to flush it out with some real light weight oil a few times to get any junk out of it before i refill it. what kind and how much do i use?

i just go to a atv store and ask for differental oil

u need to put an 80w90 hypoid gear oil straight 80 is reccomended but it is not made because of the evolution of 80w90 because it gets thicker in the summer and thinner in the winter
