I'm looking at buying a used local 05 400EX. It has the following:

New Powermadd hand guards, chassis, swing arm, and engine skid plate (unsure of brand), Chrome warning labels, Pro Nerf bars, aftermarket aluminum front bumper. $400 Houser anti-vibration steering stem. Pro Titanium Handle bar, new rear brakes. New tune up, oil change, oil filter, air filter, and spark plugs.

He also will include boots, FOX racing pants, 2 FOX shirts, two helmets all of which I'd have to buy since this would be my first ATV.

It appears to be in great condition, adult owned/operated, and less than 100 hours. What would you be willing to give for this ATV? I'm in no rush to buy, but this one seems to be in good shape and is local.

I'd bump him extra cash for the gear, but not for the mods. They really do not hold 'value' so to speak.

The add ons won't really add value to it so basically that's gravy if you would've bought them anyway. My top dollar would be right around $4000.

The guy seems like he really wants about $4500 which includes a small single ATV trailer. I don't have any use for the trailer as my Ranger pickup has a welded in rollpan with no way to use a hitch. I'm going to try & set up a time to look at it and talk him down to 4k for everything but the trailer, but I bet I'll wind up walking on this deal....

Why not just get a 450 for that price?

I'm not interested in the 450 since it doesn't have reverse. My wife will ride it also, and reverse is a must ;) This will only be used for trail riding, so having the fastest machine isn't really necessary for me.

My fast toy is my 03 Mach 1 Mustang :D

I won't hold the Stang thing against you..... Anyway thats why I bought the 400. I'd say get it. Like I said you can sell the trailer to recoupe some of the cost.

im sellin my '05 400ex. its goin up on ebay today. it has tag X5 handlebars, Cycra handguards with aluminum wrap around mounts, Razr rear tires, Razr2 fronts, and a 6 degree advanced timing key.

i will do a complete tune up for free after it is sold that will include a valve adjustment, retorqueing all the bolts, new carrier bearings, and a new axle locknut that has pinch bolts so it won't come loose. the reason i will do the tune up after it is sold is because right now i do not have the $$$ to do it b4 it is sold, so i will put it in the shop after it is sold and do the tune up b4 the new owner gets it.

the bike is in great condition, runs strong, and handles great. it does have a slight bend in the right lower a-arm, but it is hardly noticeable and it has not caused any premature wear nor has it adversly affected the handling or suspension action.

i bought it in April of '06 as a left over, but i am selling it because i found a sweet deal on a dirtbike, and i am in the mood for a change. i will get u the link to it on ebay after i put it up there which will be in a little while.

i am asking $3500 OBO for it, but my reserve will be set a little lower.

here r some pics of it. it is really in nice condition, and if u replace the a-arm it is not that expensive at all from servicehonda.com (http://servicehonda.com)
