i also have pretty much those same minor mods, i'm running a 165 main, stock pilot, 55 leak, and crf needle on the 3rd clip

that should give you a good general area to start with, but you might have to tweak it a bit depending on your altitude

Any info on changing from stock that only has a UNI filter? Runs good now that it is broken in, but my brother mentioned this to me. He had a 400ex and said by changing it a little bit would make it run leaner or richer than stock (which ever is better from what stock is running).

Any help please!:D

as long as your airbox cover is on and your exhaust is stock your fine. your filter alone isnt going to change anything.

richer is always better than runing lean. but neither is good. a lean motor gets to hot and will fry your cylinder. plan on replacing your top end. a rich motor will glaze your cylinder causing your rings not to seat and make it start burning alittle bit of oil. you can tear it down and hone your cylinder and replace your rings and go riding again. a richer motor your parts last alot longer because the cylinder runs alot cooler. hope this helps. :)

Hey... so if I get a 55 leak, 165main, and a needle what size needle do i need because the honda dealer I called said that they can't just sell me the hrc needle... they would have to sell me the hrc kit!! So I went on www.magicracing.com , and I went to jets and then needles and they asked what size... So does any body no??? Or should I just go get a jet kit!!

Zach, go to the parts counter and tell them to give you a 2005 0r 2006 CRF450 needle. This is the engine that yours ewsa designed from. It's the same a the HRC needle. The 165 main should do the trick, I've been running a 170 main and it's seems about perfect. I've tried a 45 and 48 pilot and both were to rich so stock is the way to go. Remember these things come from the factory running lean to pass E.P.A. standards. So dont remove the lid without bumping up the main or risk buring it up. I never have had to mess with the leak jet, mines runs like a well oiled racing machine, no misse's bogg's or back fires. One more thing if you want to save your self some time replace the stock nonadjustable fuel screw with one from MSR. This way to make your fine adjustments all you have to do is lean over and turn the little screw instead of all the headach that the stock one requires.
Good luck.

Just came across you post and thought it was hilarious. I diss honda(cars) all the time and this is why.... The ATV division of Honda IMHO produces a much better power to weight ratio and also I am biased because all the ricers trying to compete with their fart cans...http://www.myspacelayoutscreator.com/imghost/14459/car%20011phoyo.JPG
