I just rejetted my quad, and I rode it around, I tried to go to full throttle and it sounded like it had the choke on, spittering and sputtering, it starts at about 3/4 throttle

I put in a 155dyno jet main, i believe it equals a 172k.

I have a 10.8:1 comp piston 87mm, twin air filter, full sparks exhaust, hot cam stg 2
What do you think I should change it to? Getting the carb off is a PITA on a 400ex.

Also, does the dyno jet main NEED the dynojet adapter? becasue...eh...i didn't put it in, it wouldn't screw into the thing the keihin jet screwed into.

why take the carb off, loosen the retaing bands (worm gear clamps) and spin the carb slightly so you can get to the float bowl and main jet.

if your airbox lid is on, try removing it and seeing if that helps.

155 is pretty close for a Khein jet, IMO it is probaly to rich with it being a DJ.

also check that you have the carb boot fully seated on the carb

I took the lid off, it helped a bit, do i NEED the dyno jet adapter for the dyno jet main?

there is no real answer, jetting can vary from engine to engine, altitude etc.

my best geuss would be to try a 152 with the lid on, or a 155 with it off. Khein jets, no dynojet's

The adapter doesn't want to screw into the thing the keihin jet screwed into. It goes in about 1/4 of the way and i can't turn it anymore with my fingers.

I used to have a DynoJet kit installed. I eventually went back to Keihin jets.
You MUST have the adapter installed. Not having that installed is your problem.
You need to be much higher than a 155DJ. You should be around 160DJ and 165DJ to 170DJ with your airbow lid off.
Install the adapter and you'll solve your problem. I promise!
Here's a picture of what the adapter will look like installed with a jet screwed into it. The middle piece is the DynoJet adapter and the top piece is the actual jet. The lower piece stays. Do not remove it.

Thank you for that Hornetgod, thank you too Pappy. The peice the adapter goes into is stripped. I just forced the 165 kehin back in there, i'm going to get a new one and i'm not letting jets stop me from riding. When I get a new "the thing that the adapter goes into" i'll let you nkow how i work out, until then, i hope nothing goes wrong.

Thanks guys.

The part you stripped is:
Name: Needle Jet Holder
Part Number: 16165-HN1-003
Price: $13.17 at www.servicehonda.com

The jet, adapter, and needle holder are made of a very soft metal, brass I believe. They are easy to strip out and even snap if you're not careful. I just snug them down. I've read too many threads about the trouble people have over-torqueing the jets.

If you stick with Keihin jets, which I recommend, I would go with a 160 to 165 with the airbox lid off and 155 to 160 with the lid on.
