Glamis this morning 9.20.02

Rode from midnight to 10 this morning..........THE SAND WAS PERFECT! There were a lot of very soft sections though.....buried my right front wheel after cresting a big dune........threw me over the bars, flipped the bike and buried the entire light bar(on my Honda)....mind you this was at 4 AM near China Wall.......spooked me to say the least.

We went labor day weekend. Rode from 3am until10, Had a GREAT time. all virgin sand. It was really soft though,I was riding along athe top of a dune and slipped right into it. It was so soft I had to go around to get back. Going Oct. 18th, could be sooner. It's 2.5 hours from my house.

That was you there this morning? I was there too. I saw you at comp. hill. I was the one on the yellow 400ex (440ex) that did not have the paddles on and my buddy was on a black and white raptor.
It was a killer morning to ride, virgin sand everywhere.
We will be back out on sunday morning. we are going to the sand show on sat.

@ 10 AM it was 86' by the time I got to Calipatria it was 96'

wow i want to go there, maybe someday. are there any big hills to climb there, does it get really rutted up and crappy when theres lots of people. i know it does here if the wind isnt blowing, makes for a crappy, beat you up ride.

how far is it from san diego? i hear its about 8 hrs from here, and thats a long haul when i dont have paddles. now your thinkin what does paddles have to do with the long drive,,,well if im gonna drive 8 hrs, im gonna get the good out of the dune. i guess i always have dumont and armagosa(sp?)

Sounds like Oct 12-13 is pretty popular. I'd blow off the US open if we can arrange a little group ride. I've got 4 guys for sure.

I lived in vegas for about 5 years and the trip to glamis is only 5 hrs. from my house to my moms in vegas it is 300 miles. not far at all for a long weekend in the dunes.

It takes me about 3 - 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles... I know it's a lot closer from San Diego... Damn I can't wait till the weather cools down a bit... Time for the Sand Baby......
