440 ???

if i put a 440 kit or 416, 426 kit into my 400ex will it be as fast or faster then a 450r with the right gearing???

a 426 or 440 with right gearing will be as fast or faster than most stock or piped 450's, 450's may still have just a little on you on the very top end. My 426 will beat most 450's......but if anything else is done to a 450 like HRC kit or other motor mods then the 450 will be faster.

Just a big bore isn't gonna do a whole lot. If you go all out, 450s are still gonna give you problems. To put it in perspective, I have a 440 with port work, aftermarket carb, high compression, full exhaust...the list goes on...and my HRC equipped 450r will still outrun it. Top end isn't even a competition. Hell, in certain scenarios I have beaten full 440s on alcohol with the R.

Now, if you are just looking to outrun mostly stock 450s, you will be fine...just don't expect to go out as a 450 killer.

My stroker w/stock carb and stock gearing, vs. 05R w/full exhaust, filter, modded lid, jetted, and a 12-tooth.

Mine is quicker out of the hole, pulls slightly throughout the gears and has a higher top speed.

Can't wait to install a FCR.:macho
