Here's a suggestion: Keep the 400, buy the CR and ride them both at the same times :macho

i would if i had the $$$...
the thing is that i need to start saving for a truck, and even if i unload on the quad i will still have around 2G's left over to put toward the truck after i have bought the bike....so i m looking at it as somethin to ride until after i get my truck....
James...noffense or anything, but i had to smile when i saw ur post....u certainly did warn me, and i have the pic of ur bros old bike as my desktop background...lol
and of course i will hang around to give ppl advice...my knowlegde will just keep growing as i research more and more...(which is something i do alot).
after i get my truck....i plan on buying a 450R and doing a full top to bottom MX build on it

Your time saver is my time waster, as it takes three times as long to read your posts.
:p
Have fun on the dirt bike.
Just remember - when you stop, you gotta put a foot down, or you'll fall over.

I have heard in almost all of the dirtbike mags i get that the yz125 is the best 2 stroke bike. I know if i had a 2 stroke bike thats the one i would get. My buddy has my old yz250f. If you ever decide to buy a 4stroke dont go with yamaha. I have rode the yz125 and cr's and theres no comp. between them. the yz seems just to be a much better bike to throw around. How ever if you have a good line on a cr and not a yz it would be really good bike to have. I support you. :D

well if you plan on going with the honda dirtbike go with the cr250. Cause after a while of owning that 125 your gonna want something more. or go with a yamaha wr250 those are pretty bad a**. IMO.

i rode a worked yz 250 and it was also bored.....it was pushin like 56 HP and it scared the chit out of me...i don't think i want a 250 unless it was all wide open feilds or a track...but i ride woods

the wr250 is one of the bikes that they use in the cross country races. so they are very good bikes for the woods! And I know from past experiance that they are good woods bikes because we used to own one.

Dude your killing me...... Leaving the 400 for a bike! I wouldn't get rid of my 400 at this point. I left cycles for quads. Tell you what, why don't you sell your sisters quad and use that money towards a truck? Just tell her someone stole it. HaHaHa. Just kidding Good luck on the bike and hope you come back to the darkside eventually. Remember, It's not what you ride that matters, It's the fact that you ride.

The cr250s are scary as $hit. If i got anything it would be any of the 2stroke 125's or a wr250 or a yz250f. Both of which are a very fun bike. I would much rather have a 125 tho. My buddy with the 250f had to rebuild much of the tranny due to it taking a bolt in. I don't know how :ermm:.the wr's are a very fun bike to ride there suspension complements the faster race bikes and can still go over the whoops like any can, but still is a great bike for riding rough tech. trails.

Get the cr250!!
going from the 400 down to a 125 is not gonna be good, imo. I got a 250 when I was like 17 and weighed 140 lbs. You get used to whatever you ride. I was set on buying a 125 also and took a ride on the 250 and was like, this is alright! Strictly trails may be one thing , but if you go to pits and hill climbs and fields , the 250 will do you well.
either way, go Honda...... then you won't be a traitor.

i am always goin honda...but i do think the YZ125s r better....i have not found a good deal on one of those so....honda it is, and always will be.
i think the 125 will be fine beings thhat my friends '97 cr125 will outrun the 400 pretty easily.
the quads goin up on ebay today....i put the link up for u incase anyone is interested

no i am not....it will beat my friend's CR125 that is worked....it feels like a bigbore. they said it is stock bore, but i dunno...it sounds deeper than a normal 125....im telling u...it was fast
oldskoolex400
01-03-2007, 05:18 PM
well it might be fast to you, fast to you and fast to me it sounds like are two different things, the kx500 i have is what i call "fast", the cr was ok, a 450 will walk on a 125 im SURE of that, i doubt you have owned a 450 and a 125 at the same time, i cant see a stock 125 beating a stock 450, esp. not a piped 450 i know your excited about what your getting and trying to say stuff it will beat, i just know the 450 beat the 125 and by quite a bit also, maybe your 125 has a green powerband in it, who knows :o

and once again, my "worked" and your "worked" might be different

Yeah man that is a pretty bad exageration. In no way what so ever will a 125 out run a 450. If that was the case a 250 2stroker would run way harder than the new 450 4stroke dirtbikes. And they wont, i know for a fact they wont. I personally own a KX250 and it runs damn good. I have compared it to, 450 dirtbikes and 450 atvs. I mean sure everynow and then someone gets a factory freak but this thing would have to be a miracle from the man upstairs himself. You should really shoot for a 250 it would last you way longer because you wouldn't have to hold it wide open to get anywhere. And it would have plenty of power for really long steep hills.

im not talking a 450 dirtbike....i am talking a waaayyy detuned stock 450 quad. they r much slower in stock form than the 450 dirtbikes...maybe that is where u guys think i am exagerating...cuz i kno i am not. i have rode numorous 125s in all different states of tune, and this is tehe fastest i have ever thrown a leg over. it caught me off gaurd, cuz i know how a 125 is supposed to feel....this bike did not feel like a 125....it felt like a 144.
alos...my "worked" consists of porting, pipe, reeds, filter, piston, headwork, and maybe a bore job.
porting and headwork r 2 different things on a 2 stroke...that is why i neamed both of them

Maybe if the 450 rider is blind and has two broken arms......

alright...think wut u may....i ahev rode 450s...rode with 450s...witnessed drags with 450s and numorous different bikes....i rode many different machines....don't tell me i am exagerating...i didn't post for u or any1 else to flame on me...i am simply keeping the thread going and updating for those that want to be updated...if u don't like it then unsubscribe from the thread

rode rode rode, doesnt matter, cant judge a bike from riding it for a few minutes, or even a day. i would put money on the fact a 450 or even my "stock" yfz would pull on a cr125, this is from owning many bikes, show us some video of it pulling a piped 450
