Just got another R. I was checking it out and have a question. Should you be able to wiggle the front sprocket? It doesn't have alot of play but does have a little. Thanks in advance.

Shannon.

Sometimes yes & sometimes no, depends on the brand of sprocket.
Theres some cheap sprockets out that are thinner than the other brands & the bolt & washer wont tightend down on & hold it tight & then you have the wobble your talking about.

Can you think what it would be like installing a sprocket on the shaft with a perfect machine finish on the inside splines ???.
That would be fun press fitting a sprocket on & off everytime you changed it out.
How many you think that company would sell after that first person ordered one, wouldnt take but one for me. I'll take one with a little play any time.

Thanks for all the input. Makes sense that there would be a little play. You know how these things go. You buy a 20 year old quad and when something is a little loose you wonder, is that supposed to be that way or is it wore out. Thanks again for the help.

The sprocket you have on there now, is it flat on both sides or one side has a step up & is thicker.
If its the flat on both sides type sprocket, it will have more play in the spline area because its a cheaper brand & not as closely machined.

Checked 4 of my spare motors, not one wobles and I only finger tightened the bolt/ washer on them. I use Renthal front sprockets.
