I just bought a 05 yfz 450, I've went riding a couple times now. I took it out at night down the street and back and when I pulled back in to put it away the head pipe was gowing bright red. I wasn't even getting on it. Is this normal or is there something wrong to make glow. The fan did kick on as well the over heating light did not come on.

the glowing header is normal. They run very lean stock.I would check out the cooling system though.I run mine hard and the fan never comes on even in the summertime.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense I guess if you think about it running lean. I have very little racing gas mixed with my gas that will lean it out as well.

Yup the glowing header is normal, and the over heating light you were talking about is a "oil temp light"

That's not an oil temp light the sensor is connected to the radiator has nothing to do with oil.

Mine does the same.

I was told by the dealer it is normal, but a lot of people here say it should be re-jetted and that running like that will do damage.

I plan on re-jetting and doing the cam mod, so I hope to get rid of the glowing.

Mine WR450 did it when I bought it new and I changed the pilot jet. I don't know what jets come in the YFZ's but my stock ones were 45 pilot and 165 main and they are WAY to lean. The WR's with a pipe and airbox opened up are using a 48 pilot and 168+ main jet with the fuel screw out about 1 and 3/4 turns and a YZ needle since ours stock needles have no adjustment. If any of you guys are having problems with jetting check the WR450 forum on www.thumpertalk.com/forum They should be real close.
