What exactly do these do and are they worth it.

generally, they aren't worth it. If you have a stock cdi and a stock motor, you aren't making any power past the rev limit anyway. White bros. and several others are 99-05 xr250r cdi's with the honda part numbers scratched off. Gt Thunder makes some with more agressive power curves. Most of the time, the motor doesn't make any power past the rev point anyway, unless you have a hi-rev cam and such. I would say they aren't worth it. I know people that had them, and switched back to the stock cdi. I have ridden with people that their bike had to be pull started, as their aftermarket cdi, needed a fully charged batttery to fire up. I would say, its not worth the trade off, even if it makes more power.
