Im new on here and i been looking at getting new shocks for my `04 TRX450R. I've been lookin at the Elka's in the dirt wheels mag. and i got my mind set on those, they are a lil pricey tho. but alot of ppl on here having been talking about how good the stock shocks are. I mainly trail ride but i love jumping and have been doing it quite a bit lately so i was wondering on some suggestions you guys might have. Thanks

I'm nothing but pleased with my Works G Series. I got them for $460 about 2 years ago. I can add reservoirs later if I want.

If you're dead set on Elka's, it's your funeral........errr.........money.

Elka's are great shocks but chances are they won't be set up right when you get them. Most people have to immediately send them elsewhere and have them revalved properly. One person that is an expert at this is Johnny Hale, 918-371-0101. In fact if you order the shocks from Johnny, he revalves them free of charge, plus he has the cheapest prices of anyone!

I cannot understand why Elka cannot hire someone who knows how to properly valve shocks!

I would also check into PEP and Custom Axis as well.

There are quite a few people on here that have had poor first experiences with their new Elka setups. Apparently, Elka mis-valves their shocks a lot so people are not satisfied with how the shocks perform and feel compared to other brands or in some cases, even the stockers. Depending on what you setup the shocks for (MX, XC, trail, dunes, etc.), you should feel that the shocks give you the performance and feel that you are looking for, not necessarily what others say. If they feel good to you, no worries, if they don't, I am sure we will all soon be hearing about how you are yet another dissatisified Elka customer when it comes to valving. The great thing is that Elka has excellent customer service and they will re-valve your shocks free of charge if you don't like the way they feel.

the problem with elka is that they use a basic valving setup and then use different springs to adjust for rider weight and riding style. They aren't as custom as they would like to say that they are
