My kids have a 250ex & a 300 ex. They want 18" tires - we have kenda kalw mxr. I think the size is 18x8.5x9. We used them on a honda 90
we are looking for a inexpensive rim to fit the tires. what should we get? Dont want to spend big bucks. we dont race.

DO NOT get .160s, there junk. I folded some in 4 laps. Get .190s at the least. Or save money in the long run and never ever have to buy rims again and buy beadlocks.

Thanx. I have the baja 's w/ all the holes around the sides ( their set up w/ all 22" tires for trails) I didn't like the way the stem was to fill with air so I cut out one of the circles so it was easier to fill the tire up. Is it the higher the # the thicker the rim? 190's are what 50-70 bucks each?

190s will fold up too. Hipers are the only solution to no replacements. Beadlocks are a must in the rear IMO.

In my opinion the stock honda wheels are stronger than the douglas or itp standard wheels. I bent up a set of itp wheels that came on my quad the first week.

I late got a set of stock 400ex rear wheels for 60$ that have held up MUCH better. I use them as my trail riding tires. Then I bought a set of used douglas beadlocks that have held up nicley also for my race tires, they where 200$

If I ever buy another wheel againg it will be a hiper for the fact taht they wont bend

In your case I vote stock wheels.

I have hipers on my 450R. I'm not as impressed as most people seem to be & the reason is when I bought them new the threaded brass gromet pulled out & I didn't reach the correct torque specs yet. After finally getting more parts I had to separate the wheel .... I paid good $ & I shouldn't have to do the work they should have took back the old(new) ones & sent my 2 new ones. I'm not buying these wheels for my kids stuff unless I hit the lottery. Stock wheels are good but not @ dealer prices. Hence my post about what is inexspensive & good.

Get a used set of douglas beadlocks than. I have a few sets of Hiper wheels and have never had a problem. when buying Hipers new they come with a warranty. I forget how long it is though. I never needed it. Ebay is your best bet for a decent set of wheels either new or used.

Sunco this is who i ride for give them a call or order parts online. tell them Kevin with the 450R sent you. Mike is a great guy!

why whould he need bead locks or hipers for a 250ex.

look into stockers off ebay, douglas yellow labels,or ITP Bajas thay all should be under $100 per rim.
