I ordered the JVC after reading alot of reviews, and its one of the best priced in its class. It should be here next week. Im stoked, I have been wanting a good video camera for some time:p
Funny, my first camcorder was bought in 1988 or 89, cost $1400, used full size VHS tapes and was the size of a small suitcase:p

Honestly I am not sure what direction to go there. It does come with some software but I think that is just to get the video into a computer etc.
Simple works for me, so any advice will be quite helpful

A good Camcorder(and a helmet Cam) is my next investment
NICE CHOICE PAPPY!
Ah man... VERY NICE!!!
Now for the details... It appears to be a high def camera. What are the resolutions that it will record in? What type of media does it use (hard drive)....etc?

nice camera pappy! your right about that camera. its has a really good lense and is priced right. B&H is a great company to buy from. I go there all the time.
I am a video editor for CNBC and NBC for 12 years if you have any questions let me know

You are gong to need a bigger hard drive they now have drives over 1 terabyte
A terabyte is a measure of computer storage capacity and is 2 to the 40th power or approximately a thousand billion bytes (that is, a thousand gigabytes).
or you could get a Dell PowerEdge Storage Server - we have one at work with a terabyte - to back up all our data to.

Lets see if I can answer and respond in turn....
MOFO : From what I have read, recording in HD works best, uses mini dv tapes, and I am not 100% on the specs but I could look them up as far as resolution goes.
TWISTED : About the same as a set of PEP's
tom400ex: Thanks! I do well with photography so hopefully i can transfer some knowledge over to video
QuadJunkies: Im ready when ever you are, dont be shy, i am a professional:devil:
red2004 TRX450R: I will be using 2 external hard-drives for video media, but most of the footage will be edited by someone other them myself who is working for atvriders.com
