is there free mods for my 400

i just got a 2006 trx 450r is there any free mods i can do???

Well, pretty much anything will require that you put a slightly larger main jet in...very cheap and easy to do. For power, you can uncork the stock exhaust. Also, there is a very restrictive skeleton underneath the stock filter, you can modify it to flow more air by cutting portions of the screen out. Depending on conditions (which should be taken into consideraton when modding the screen as well), you can remove the airbox lid for some big gains. There is also the green wire mod. It gives you ~1000 more RPM and gives your bike a more aggressive timing curve...I would assume that it is aimed more towards use with a cam, but I have also seen people do it to a stock engine. It is pretty simple, just snip a green wire and your done. There are also a couple various tips and tricks, also relating into handling and such.

can i take the screen out of the filter or no, and if i cant what will happen???

What kind of conditions do you ride in? If you ride in extremely dusty conditions, I say keep it for safety precautions, but otherwise, cut the screen out. I did it on mine; no problems thus far and a noticable increase in performance.

I took the screen out when I switched to a UNI filter. Havent had any problems but I also clean it continously. If you pull the spark arrester out you'll get a noticably gain in power just dont ride in a state forest without it. And you dont have to rejet or anything either. Dont do the green wire mod if you have a warranty it might void it, Im not sure but thats why I havent done it.

thanks i pulled out the screen and the spark arrester out of the pipe there was a big gain... i havent did the green wire yet, ill try that next.
