Im new to the whole car audio thing so take it easy on me please. i told the wife i wanted a cheap sub and amp for x mas and so she got me one. Well i got 1 sony xplod sub and one sony amp (the red ones). The amp says its a 4/3 channel amp. rated power output: 55w x 4 (4 ohms) Maxx power output: 600w (2 ohms). Can i some how have this amp just run my sub and thats it? it shows on the box it going to a sub and 2 front speakers. If i can not run it to just the sub could i run it to my factory door speakers in my 05 ram. sorry for all the stupid questions, this is my first sub and amp. The part numbers are sub: xs-l100p5w and the amp: xm-554zr

You shouldnt have to tap into your speakers as long as you have inputs on the back of ur head unit. Run your ground wire/power wire(from the car to the amp), and your RCA/remote wires (from the head unit to the amp) and that should be all you need

Kinda like this, But you only need to run wires to the speakers if you want to give them an extra boost of power

thanks for the info. here is what they are. i was going to go with 2 10's but i figured one would due for the type of music i listen to, especially in a regular cab truck.
