Anyone here know of any original 250R's anywhere. I am talking about all original, no mods, nothing. I am just curious how many might be out there. The Honda dealer in my town has an original 250R quad and 3 wheeler on there floor, not forsale btw. Just an interest i have in them.

I know where there is an '88 thats 95% original and in showroom condition. The only things not "original are a powder coated frame and exhaust system...

I know where there is some all original 85/86 250r trikes, Along with many 80-90 orignal ones. I bought a frame off of ebay, not knowing that it came off a 86 250r trike, that was almost showroom new, the way I found out was I looked that the guys other auctions and the parts looked brand new, the frame came with a 2 owner mso also!!!! I feel bad about knowingly doingly buying it, but he was gonna part it out anyway.

THere are a few out there periodically. There are less that haven't been reworked and restored... original parts are becoming less and less hard to come by though.

Very nice collection! I have 2 of the bone stock, low hours 86's and 89 represented here. I Just sold the 86's. They were nice. The closest 88 is a plenty used, but totally original including the piston. The other 88 with the loose seat cover is my modified dune rider.

Just curious Jasyn -

Why sell the 86's and keep the 88-89? I am doing the same thing, so we must be thinking alike...

After having all four, it seems to me that the 88-89 is just a better machine in terms of feel, handling and steering. Also they are harder to find (esp. the '89) and worth more money. That's why I'm not ready to let them go. Would you agree?

Also I have a 1999 Lobo GNCC quad that I poke around the woods on. It is a CT350pv. Here's a pic of it after 2005 Millfield OH GNCC...

Well, I bought the 86's in super low hours condition for a good rate. They just needed a little light cleaning and they looked almost new. I took the red one out for a trip once and thought about keeping it. I decided to sell them both to make a little cash is basically what it boiled down to for me.

I think the 86 is better for cross country because of the longer wheel base. The 88-89 even in stock for is a super nimble chassis - more nimble than the 86. So I think if you do XC riding you want an 86-87. I think that type of riding too though is a bit of a waste of a 250R. My 88 with 0preload susp handles like a Ferrari! I LOVE it. So... I guess it boils down to preference, but I'm an 88-89 fan too. What helped me get solid about selling it was I figured with the profit I'd get a set of 89 plastics and put 86 stickers and seat on em so I have my race style quad in an 86 style too without having to maintain the extra R. :D

Looks like you're an R fan too. That's awesome. :blah:

I think there are quite a few. In the last couple years I think I've seen approx 100 different ones in different degrees of "original" the lowest being 75% most usually have handlebars, pipes and tires.

I picked this one up in August. Not sure if I want to keep it stock original or put some additions and just keep the parts to put it back because I want to ride it and it's not the best handler right now.

Are you selling it in a garage sale, or is that where you bought it?
In my opinion, If you have another quad that is already tricked out, I would keep this one stock. It's a classic beauty. But if you don't have another to do some rippin' I would modify and change some things to make it ride like a dream.
Just my personal opinion.

Last year I picked up an'86 R from a 65 year old guy who bought it in '92 from a movie production company that used it to film off of. It was ran 20:1 all its life till I got it and it was 100% stock, and by stock it still had Ohtsu tires and the original top end in it from 1986, and it still could hang with 450's. Since then the back Ohtsu's are replaced with Holeshots and I have a Moose case saver. Unfortuanatly my brother in law broke the chain pre case saver and now it slowey leaks oil when running.

I'm a huge 250r fan. That is the only quad I have now, but not to start a war or anything. A stock 250r can not keep up with one of the new 450's. Everybody on this 250r forum knows that.

i have not ever rode a all stock 250r, and im sure most of the people on here havnt as well, but a all stock 250r prolly makes around 32 or 33 HP while a 450r makes around 37 or 38....then factor in the weight difference...there isnt all that much difference in the two...id say the 450 will win but not by as much as you guys think

Well the 450's I ride with, I stay with. I'm not claiming to be the best rider in the world, but I have no problem hanging with these guys. And I'm also not saying I pulling them, buts not like a Banshee VS. a Breeze. So I will reword it, I have no problem keeping up with the 450's I ride with. Sorry for the missinterpretation, if you want to critisize my words still, grow up.

Some people who like the 450 get itchy when someone tells them the much older 250R "keeps up". No big deal. I'm sure any of us would feel the same.

No, no, you got me all wrong.I am no fan of the 450. I am saying that a bone stock 250r can not keep up with the speed of a 450.

WOW - 5+ years have gone by and I have sold the entire collection 86-89, and that LOBO chassis is up for sale right now on eBay. That LOBO opened my eyes to the world of full-blown race quads, and I haven't looked back since! Now I'm not afraid to get these ones dirty...

bigE28 - I sold the collection about 3 years ago, I think you were down here after they were already gone!

Rob- Yeah the guy I sold all 4 quads to assured me they were going to be on display in his shop, lengthy description of the plexiglass "boxes" he was going to custom make and hang them from the ceiling, yada yada. Two weeks later I start seeing parts for sale online! I really did not want to see them parted out either, that's why I didn't do it myself...

Kyle, my heart sank when I read that they were parted out. Were they sold to someone in Pa.? I think I might have a set of calipers off one of them.
