400 to 450 steering stem swap?

im getting my "new" 2005 TRX 450R and selling my first love, my 2004 400ex, there are a few parts im trying to keep of the 400 for the 450, but the main one im curious about is my lonestar stem with fat bar mounts, id really like to keep this and i was wondering if its ever been done to take the stem off a 400 and onto a 450?? any help would be great. thanks. #13

Yep, I did it on mine. The diameter on my RPM steering stem was smaller then the 450, so had to cut the bushing to make it fit. Easy swap..

I believe you can purchase aftermarket bushing to fit different diameter steering stems. Pappy had some for sale here. Good luck

opps, Mine is a 2006 450ER. I am pretty sure the 2005 is swapable.

the 450 and 400 stems are different diameters. The 400 being smaller. So unless you take the two and figure out what you need to make them work, well that's something you'll need to be thinking of.
