Ok well my buddy got new front brake pads for his 400ex and we installed them and then bled the brakes until the handle had a nice resistance and they are still spongy they wont lock up or really even stop you just slow you down. I kno they can be a lot better than they are. so do i just need to keep bleeding them? could there be some air in the line still?

Some of it might depend on what pads you used, some pads just don't grip very well. You can keep bleeding them just to make sure there is no more air, sometimes it takes a long time to get all the air out. You might also try some high quality fluid if you are not already using it.

who bleeds breaks when changing pads? I have never had to bleed my lines except when I broke the lines to get the frame PC.
