iv had my 05 for about 2 years now and havent adjusted the valves, think it is about time. can someone tell me the steps in doin this, any help is appreciated

i went to adjust my valves today and i tore it apart and my feeler gauge didnt go small enough so i went to the parts store to buy one and they said they didnt make one small enough for .004 and .005 in and i no they do so where can i buy one at

I only adjust the valves if they start rapping...like the saying goes, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

I did have to adjust the valves on my 400ex about 2 weeks ago...and when I was doing the final valve, the nut off of my feeler gauge came loose..and wouldnt you know it, the nut fell right thru the top hole of the cylinder where the valve is and went inside my darn motor.

That is BS if you are talking about inch feeler gauges.

I have feeler gauges that go down to .0015"

Find another parts store!

Try another auto parts store. The higher priced feeler gauges have more/smaller sizes. I got one but, can't remember where I got it.

OH NO!!! Thats rotten luck, did you tear the motor down to get it out?

Why would you need to tear the whole thing down??? Just pull the head cover off the head and look...magnet and pen light recommended. HEY...if your lucky...you can look a little and not even have to pull the head cover off ;)
