How much better are the 400ex shocks than the 250x? I am looking to buy the conversion kit for my little brothers quad and Im very curious about the gains we will see.

If you going to do the conversion your going to want to get the a arms too. I ran it for 1 week with the stock 300ex a arms before I ordered 400ex a arms. The 400ex stock a arms, and stock shocks is a great setup for overall trail/track riding. I raced MX, so I went ahead and got 400ex +3 LT a arms. The set up will work just fine, and you can change your shock/a arm decision to what riding your going to do. If he does just normal trail riding and the occasional track just get the relocator, 400ex stock shocks, and the 400ex stock a arms.

I have a complete 400ex front end on my 300ex. the a arms are +2 two with the relocator bracket. It is a big difference. Rides so nice and soaks up everthing you throw at it.

with 3+2 offset ITP wheels it is 46 inches wide. Which is 3 to 4 inches wider than a stock 450R. so if your worried about tight trails at all id stick with 4+1 aftermarket or stock wheels. I think with stock honda wheels my 300ex was like 43 or 44 inches wide in the front.

Yeah with 400ex long travel a arms you wont need to use the relocater bracket. Only downside to that is it will be a lil bit lower to the ground. But great for MX use.
