well the last two engines i tore down had white bros cams in then and they wrecked the rockers. i like the xr cam you can get it from the dealers. works great with minor work and is very durable. and i know it dosent pull a hard mid range up but the piston and cam change you will be suprised and use xr head gaskets.

They are about the same cam, so I would go with the xr.

what is the advantage of the xr gaskets? thinner?
do you have to worry about clearance with the vlaves/piston with a high comp piston?

The xr gasket is thinner, but you don'tneed to worry about any clearances, because it was the origianl gasket.

I'm going to throw my vote in for a Hot Cam stage 2. It's a $130ish drop in with no exchange required. Bottom end stays about the same, but the mid & top will gain a lot more power.

I agree with Vegas. I'm stuck with a WB all-around cam. I don't think it is very agressive at least for my Sparks 440 setup. Plus you lose your stock one as a core. I just ordered a Curtis Sparks full-race cam and I'm stuck with a core charge of 180 because they don't want the WB cam. Something about WB's has Web weld the oil hole closed?

I talked to a guy at Hot Cams yesterday (Tony, i think) and he was real honest about their cams. Sounds like the stage 2 would be the way to go on a 400 - 425ex.
EX's motors have always seemed to me that they need more high end. Hope any of this helps!
