ok so the deal is if i sell one of my toys i can free up some cash to get a new quad....i will be doing trails mostly i also wanna start to do the woods racing thing(as im not a big fan of manmade jumps lol) i love torque and power....top speed really is not a main factor so long as im not gonna be left 50 miles behind the ppl im riding with when it comes to going a short way down the road to get to the trails again....was wondering what quad you guys thought was the best!.......oh ya atm i own a 400ex and have been looking at the 450r ltr450 yz450 kawi 450 or even a raptor(even tho i hear there having tranny probs again) and if u have any other suggestions plz speak up :) thanx and sorry it so long.

i recommend an 450r! its not just a race quad buy ther elctric start too.

what year you get is up to. i used to ride a 400ex 05 w reverse for the trails and it kicked ***. if you want more power just get a pipe and rejet anyway, good luck!

when i get ready to decide its gonna be a new one......the 400 i have now is an 03 w/o any mods. runs great but im starting to....well for a long time ive gotten used to the power and was gonna add a pipe and stuff but was told it not worth it bc the 450s are much more powerful

As it stands, the 450r seems to be the answer...though the true answer will have to be your own. The Kawasaki looks promising, but only time will tell. The LTR was a total dud in my opinion. Hopefully the KFX will not follow in its footsteps.

If you can, the only true way to get an answer is to watch, ride, and review them yourself. That is how I made my choice...and as you can see we are led to the Honda over and over again.

i think yfz is better trail bike in stock form

so it seems that the 450r and the yz 450 are my best bets...i also wanted to know how well these will compare in durability compared to the 400...and if i get the 450r ive been told that the hrc kit dosent take from the durability at all and i hare the electric start has some flaws

well i am happy with my 450er. it is kinda top-end happy but nothing a 12 tooth sprocket won't fix. i ride pretty much the same way u do, woods, old trails etc. pretty easy to mantain 1 qaurt of oil in 1 side and i put about half a qaurt in the other side for the gear box. oil filter is a snap also 2 bolts and it is out. as for the electric start i wanted a kicker but they did'nt have one when i got mine but so far i am pretty pleased with it.

hope this helps u out.

oh yeah i think top speed stock with the 13tooth front sprocket is about 72 give or take. so gearing it down still won't leave u to far behind.:D

no problem. i was just riding the old r right now anyway and came in to check my email. it's your your decision ( i can't spell for crap ) to get what u want but try them all if u can and see what fits u the best.

good luck and happy shopping.

just get the kicker. I know when I saw all of the problems with the electric, I didnt even want to think about it. Also, since I broke my 450 in, it starts first kick everytime.

yea kickers are nice, that what my R is and i like it my friends make fun of me cuz i have to kick it unlike them but it usually starts the first couple kicks unless its cold or you do something stupid like leaving the kill switch on or forgot to turn the key like i do and if u get a kicker and decide u like but but would like electic start then you can get an aftermarket electric start for it and its still compatable with the kick start so u can use both

not to dis yamaha or anything but my friend has a yfz and the thing vibrates all the bolts out

he has only had the thing for about 2 months and he barely rides it and he has already vibrated 3 or more plastic bolts, has a small exhaust leak because he vibrated the hi-temp gasket maker lose twice and it is leaking anti freeze :(
