Seems like everyone favors the 11:1 piston. why is that? im rebuilding this winter i was looking at maybe a 12:1 416, with HD studs. Whats so great about the 11:1? i dont mind running race gas by the way

with the 12:1 it is recommended that a heavy duty rod be installed which means more labor and parts.

how much more power would a 12:1 give over an 11:1?

a little more bottom end a 12:1 wont give a whole lot more power if its pulling studs and breaking rods though :) 11:1 is just the best balance between power and reliability and is the most manage-able money wise

ok, i think im going with the JE 11:1 and cometic gaskets. hopefully the stock studs will hold.

the crf cam chain will fit perfect i didnt see what year your bike is and dont know how many tio\mes its been apart but i'd recomend hd studs the first time, mines still running strong but i've heard a lot more gasket problems than success stories. i like to just barely under-torque the studs but over torque the head bolts about 5 lbs. but thats just me even with flex-steel gaskets i also make sure to check for torque retention although most of the time steel gaskets keep my torque steady
