Can you use any type of pump gas for atvs or can you just use 87 octane? Is there a rev limiter on a 87 250x? Using 87 octane cause a atv to bog only in low to mid rpms and not high rpms? Thanks.

most people only run premium pump gas or race fuel depending on motor work and what purpose you use your quad for. for the average joe premium pump gas is fine. its worth spending the extra dollar or so when you fill the quad. the engines are small and any dirt, grime, or bad gas will affect performance. im not sure on the rev limiter question so sorry i cant help you there. as for the bogging, since its an older quad make sure the air filter and carb are clean, as well as having good gas (new gas). a new spark plug never hurts either :D

for your 87 250x you can run any pump gas and you will not notice a difference. As for the later model quads or any highly modified quad I would only run 93 octane or race fuel.

Your 250x has a cdi that only allows it to rev so far. (i think 8500 rpms but not for sure)

What he said. You can run any grade of pump gasoline in a 300ex/250x. Very low compression, so now risk of detonation.

Pretty sure rev limit is 6850 rpm (reason CDI rev mod is so popular even on a stock engine.).

ok i was just wondering if i should spend the extra money and buy 93 octane instead of 87. I was asking about the rev limiter because i can rev it really high and never hit the limiter.
