Me and my dad are looking for an off road truck that will be able to ride in sand (Ocotillo Wells), have 4 wheel drive, be able to fit at lest 3 people, used, and good quality. We were thinking of a bronco but its to wide for some tight trails. Any suggestions????

buy my dodge! please!!! lol. i'll upload some pictures hopefully tonight. it's a 93 power ram 150 (standard cab, short bed) with a 318 and a 727 auto. 4" superlift (3/4 springs with dana 44 axles) 33 x 12.50 BFG MT's on AR mags, lund moonvisor, lund fiberglass steps, A.R.E fiberglass tonneau, extra set of 31x10.50's on AR wheels.
had some problems with the transfer case. going to put the new one in tonight. has a fresh tranny in it also. body is in great shape. almost a shame to make it an all time off road truck.

look into late 80's and early 90's fourunners and ext cab pickups, see if you can find one with a 22re. 22re's are the 400ex's of 4 cylinder motors, they aren't fast and they aren't graceful but there bullet proof :muscle:.

Tacomas are pretty skinny so they can go threw the tight trails.

For Ocotillo you can't go wrong with a jeep....if your not using it to get there, get a 4 seat buggy.

We have a 05 tacoma with the off road package. It has bilstein shocks, bfgoodrich rugged trails, rear locking diffs. Does anyone that has a tacoma with the stock rear wheel diffs know why you can only go 5 miles per hour? The reason my dad doesn't want to take it off road is because he is a car fanatic. And he's afraid to get a scratch in it. And it's our only way home. How would it do out their stock, We're going to take it out this weekend down a road that we've already checked for brush? And if you know the area, would it make it up blow sand? Also, what tire preasure should we run? Thanks

Is your truck a 4x4? if so you can only engage the locker when in 4-lo unless you do the "grey wire". The trucks are very off road capable stock their weak spot is definately the BFG crappy trails.
