Will a 400EX Motor fit into a 300EX Frame? I came across a situation where I can get a 400EX motor, I thought maybe I could put it in my 300EX Will I need to fabricate any brackets? Or will I need to change anything?

i've seen it done but don't know if it requires fabricating

even if u do have to fabricate mounts or whatever else i think itd be worth it. pull up at the sand drag and just drive off and leave the other 300s.....wicked

Yeah man that's what I'm saying. Just skip the entire engine build up process, and see if I can just get a bigger better engine. Maybe save myself alot of time and money. Just I don't have access to all the tools myself, like spare metal and welder and a torch. Have it down at the shop, but I doubt I'd be able to use it. That's If I'd even have to.

Why not just save and get the whole 400?

the 400ex motor is different in shape. I know when I put my 300ex motor in the frame, its always a *****, I cant imagine a 400ex motor. the 300ex fits in the 400ex frame so I would say no, the 300ex frame cannot hold a 400ex motor. Mainly because of the head pipe on the 400. Its got a duel pipe so I know its going to be next to impossible to fit two pipes around the frame...

I had heard it was done but hadn't seen it also. But I probably wouldn't be able to do it if it requires alot of fabrication, due to the fact that I don't have all the tools and equipment. I would even imagine dropping the frame in the center a little bit, the cutting the pipes to go around the frame. There could be a bunch of possibilities.
