What is the purpose Of a hood?

I see most all serious racers w/ them... my friend just put one on his yfz... are they just cosmetic? I thinks it's nearly retarded to spend 165 bucks on a useless piece of carbon fiber that gets rid of ur headlights... maybe i'm just too economically minded...

yea looks, get rid of your lights, and more air flow to your oil cooler

Yea, mainly for looks. People will tell you for more air flow, but it's more look than anything. I think it looks sweet, then mount some Trail Tech frame lights. Mine are yet to arrive, but I'll post a pic. when I get and install them.

BTW - Mine was $54.99 from Rocky Mountian...:macho

the hood looks a hell of a lot better than to 2 spotlights they come with new(99-04)....i never ride at night so i dont need lights anyways!!

It does look like it could use a little more airflow actually. Or maybe a carbon fiber support brace for the AC unit, that would be sweet!!!

i think carbon fiber hoods are ugly on most quads
