it will lower ur quad a couple inchs and it will ride very stiff/soft depending on ur a arms . but its prolly not worth the extra cash, i would just go after market

it will make the quad sit higher and be little stiffer. i have 450r shocks on my dads z400 and they lower it about a inch nad give it a great ride.

check ebay for the newer z400 shocks with piggybacks on them. It will work better because they are designed and valved for that machine and they are actually pretty decent for stock shocks.

If you're talking about LTR-450 front shocks, then no, they are too long. TRX450R shocks, on the other hand, are supposed to fit fine. I think they would be much better than stock, non-reservoir LTZ400 shocks. Do a google search or search these forums. There is a ton of stuff about this topic.

just go with some 05 or newer ltz shocks and then later on have them revalved/resprung when you have the cash

i was looking at the specs for the suspension for the 2004 and the 2005-2007 models and the 2004 suspension has the same amount of travel in the front and rear so would the 2005-2007 shocks really make any difference?

same travel but they are piggy back rezzy's. and a much better shock.

For the casual rider, there's no reason to spend a grand on front shocks. I went with Works G Series front shocks w/out reservoirs and have been nothing but pleased and they were well less than $500 two years ago.
