i know which quad is better questions get asked alot but i was wondering what you guys would do

used 400ex (classic 2004 and later)

used 450r

i dont really leave a quad bone stock for long

since every one is switching to 450s there are 400 parted out in the parts forum like crazy so performance parts wouldnt be hard to come by

but is that for good reason is a good modd 400ex any match for a 450r or should i jsut spend alittle more and get a 450r

which frame handles best

i ride jsut about every terraine possible track trail (i dont go muddin with my sport bikes though) alittle sand

450r In my opinion.. I'm guessing this isn't your first quad, if it is your first then a 400ex would be plenty powerful and a great starter quad... But if your more experienced I think you'd be happy with the 450 because you can usually find some great deals on them. Either way you'll be happy.

it takes a lot of mods and takes away a ton of reliability to get a 400ex to be anywhere near a 450

if you dont race mx you dont need anything more than 400cc...trust me, that will get you where you need to go real fast, you dont need to be goin 80mph in trails.

no real difference between goin mid 3rd gear on a 450r then goin high 3rd, maybe low/mid 4th in the trails is there? as long as you arent toppin out everyday there isnt a need for a 450

thats my opinion anyways

400's are plenty of bike for trail riding and such. Even when I was racing my EX, I was smoking 450's. Alot of it is in the rider....

lol well i have a 1/4 (straight drive way) and some other short one lane roads which i end up topping out my 300ex all the time ith ink with the way i have it setup it goes around 70 give or take (my sig has a list of modds (its never been clocked im guessing) all that to say your right i dont need to go 90 its just fun
i live on a farm well a ranch more apropriatly so i have 40 achers 2o in pastures and 10 woods and another 3-5 (depending on the season) of field plus a bunch of my friends have tracks and im 2 ish hours from silver lake dunes so i really need a strong all around perfomer

i used to live in the dessert thats my favorite terrain wash basins are incredible hill climbs
