runnin the 400ex at import Drags???

hey guys, i recently was at import wars in phoenix,arizona and noticed quads are allowed to race. My brother races at speed world and firebird raceway(legal drag strips), and i thought about running my quad. Have any of you ever done this b4??? I have seen others ther do it but they wer banshees and raptors. Just curious to see what those who have ran a 1/4 mile drag stip time waz?? Im thinkin about it doing it, but i will get some street tires, after all dont you think it would be cool to beat some of those civics and mazdas?? thanx

There is an asphalt drag here that has been opened for a long time and they are now starting to let quads drag on it, there is a lot of people starting to race over there now!!! My good friend with a 250R, LRD powervalve 350 on alky has ran the best time so far! I cant wait to get mine down there!

he said his bike was cutting out,,he hasnt got a fuel pump for the alky yet, his bike drinks alky faster than his carb can feed it!!!

14 is pretty good. For a quad I guess. A stock 2000 Mustang cobra can do it in a little over 13 seconds. But we're comparing apples and bananas here.

i've seen alky banshee, not very heavily modified either doin it in 8 i would assume the alky r should be doin the 1/4 a little better than 14

hey guys thanx for the replies...14 seconds seems about right. The cars that wer running 14 seconds wer toping out between 85mph to about 98mph i think. The next class up wat running 115mph or so and they wer doin about 11 or 12 seconds. This 1 eclipse was running like 120mph and he waz running about 10 seconds flat. As for quads most of them kill the cars off acceleration, but the cars top out at so much more that they would end up coming back. As for me, my bike is apart because im gettin a 440 and port and polish because i hope to gain more power so therefore i can raise my gearing so i have a nice power band to pull thru all my gears at top end. Im still looking for some 1/4 drag times from some quads. thanx!!!

Oh ya and when my bike is back together and its jetted and tuned right... ill be takin it to the drag strip to run it. ill keep you guys posted on the times im gettin

Hey 300exazzkikr, thats kind of funny considering there is no such thing as a 2000 mustang cobra. Production was never started because they weren't completely designed yet so they skipped over 2000 and just came out with them in 2001. Hence no 2000 Cobra.

he did get a 14 but his bike was running out of alky, he hasnt installed his fuel pump yet and the carb cant push alky to the motor fast enough!! After 5 seconds of wide open it starts cutting out!! He said he was beating all the mustangs that were running that night, then one guy said yeah but look at the weight comparison, then my friend said yeah but i have 1 cylinder compared to their 8:D

ya, overall quads are faster than most cars..on kazaa i have downloaded some videos of drag races and these banshees wer smokin the 5 liter mustangs!!!!and if they say look at the weight comparison..say look at the horsepower comparison

A freind of my dads has a banshee that runs in the low 11's in the 1/4

my best time while trying furiosly to keep the wheels down and slipping the clutch was 16.08 at 74 mph. that is with my 500ex cutting out also cause it eats more than oprah winfrey at the sirloin stockade! ordered a fuel oump and alky conversion kit for it but it hasnt got here yet. fixing to lower the front way down and ad a wheelie bar so i can just ahmmer it from the git go.

Chris, if you havent ever run asphalt before then its very hard to do!! It seems like your bike shouldnt be no more than about a 15 though???
Why was it cutting out??? Are you still running the stock carb??
Have you got an extended swingarm?? I went +2 on mine but im very afraid thats not going to be long enough!!

Hey chad, have you ran ur bike at the drags?? if so wat was your time?? 16.08 seems like a very slow time especially with a 500ex...he must have been having major problems with it cutting out...although with a 500ex it may be very very had to keep the front end down ther for that would cause him to take it easy....oh and when you do get your wheelie bar in and get your bike running good, i would like to no the times your running so keep em posted k...thanx
