How do to adjust the float level on a 1988 250r stock carb.
The reason I am asking is my friend did a carb clean for me. And put a 150 main jet in. ( I have a FMF fatty pipe and power core 2 silencer) Now the bike witl not start.. Now it will run if you spray brake cleaner in the air box, but once it runs out of the brak cleaner to run on, it stops. I need help I want to ride this week end before the snow hits.

thanx John

set the float level at about 16mm or .62"

150 is the stock size for the main jet on an 86 carb. 150 might be to small for the 88 and if you have work done to it you should go bigger anyway. Check the needle pin it should be on the 4th notch.

what size of main get do you rec for a stock motor. I just have an FMF fattey and silenser on it. And when you said the neddle clip should be on the forth groove, is that from the top or the bottom of the needle.
Also how do you adjust the float needle, do you have to turn the small clip on the neddle itself?????

thanx

First off, quit running it on the starting fluid. It will burn up the engine. The main jet shouldnt keep it from starting.Sounds like the carb has got trash in it or the float needle is stuck.Turn the gas on and take the plug loose from the float bowl to see if gas is in the bowl.If so,the pilot circuit is clogged. If no gas, then the float needle is stuck
