Has anybody heard of the 943/921 grind cam from Web Cams for the 450r? I tried looking it up on the website, but nothing with that grind number comes up. I'm trying to see what kind of cam it is comparable to, and if it is a drop in or not. If anybody has some info on it I would appreciate it!!!

while we are talking about this, are the cams from all years interchangable?

I want one :(.

Are you talking about the different cams, and different years TRX and CRF?

If so, I believe all years CRF450R and TRX450R cam's are interchangeable.....BUT I COULD BE WRONG. I think Chad might be able to confirm this for me....hopefully he'll stop by the thread.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help :(.

ghott, you trying to bid against me in the ebay auction?? it's wppracing that is currently winning the bid thought it might be you!!!

you guys dont know how to use ebay. Just wait until the last hour and then start bidding. It will keep the price down. Who cares whos winning it now.

thats why i only bid $25. i saw that the first guy bid like 3 times before i bid. it was a feeler to see what he was doing. i expected him to have bid more than the $2 he did in those 3 bids. now its gone way up!!! i probably won't bid again until the last 5 seconds if it is still going at a reasonable price.

note:
not all of the cams are interchange able... the stock 06 cam will not fit in a 04... I can't remember if it is a bigger base circle on the 06 cam or a shorter cam tower on the 04.

The 943 is a drop in BEAST!
Ron Hamp made it, he also made the 208 which is another insane cam for more extreme builds.

well, that baby is on the way to my house as we speak!!! does anybody have any numbers on a stock 06/07 with this cam and a full pipe??? just wondering what kind of numbers i should be expecting!!! will i need to change jetting for changing a cam?? i am thinking that i probably will, but figured i would double check!!!

ghott
12-18-2006, 07:08 PM
Numbers depend on what type of dyno you get on...

On a Dynojet..I'd say you'd be in the high 40's...might even be very close to 50....

Usually a cam doesn't affect jetting. Very little, if at all. Play with it and see what feels the best. Only way to tell for sure is to get her on a Dyno with an A/F ratio.

If you're on the East Coast...check out Brian @ http://www.wppracing.com - great mechanic and dyno technician :).

i kinda figured that the type of dyno would affect it. i am here in kansas so wpp racing is out of the question!!! i am planning on getting it on a dyno this spring at little sahara. my brother in law is putting the athena kit on his kfx this winter so he can try to keep up with me  and we are going to compare numbers. i guess i will just have to wait and see!!!

WPP can this cam be retarded for decking head purposes?

Also the cam is great to about 10,000 then it falls off pretty quick due to the small intake vavle lift.

I could not sign for the head you shipped with "signature required" from the post office during the day when they were open for pickup; so, I think they returned it to you.

you can always pick your engine up too if you want WPP to build you one.

Huh whats that supposed to mean. you know i want you to build it but WPP has alot of exprance with the 943, and i just wanted to ask for his opinion.

ask him if he has clayed in a cam before, or especially the 943 with retarded timing and decked head....

prob not but i forget if it was you or him that told me they did some testing with the cam retarded and it wasn't pretty. And im not sure if the decking of the head will counter these effects or if i have to use a different cam to sqeeze around. Just asking questions chad NO offense to anyone.

czrider263, I know you mean no offense, but trying to counter any ill effects that other ppl have sticking their input on making power is not something i want to spend time explaining to others anymore. I mean, just because a cam may have, or have not worked on one build does not mean you'll get the same response on another build. Retarding a cam may not have worked on one build does not mean that it wont on another build that has been machined around it... also just because a cam is retarded on WPP build doesnt mean it can not be made to produce more power on other build.. I have retarded cams way too many time with dyno results as proof. I can see that your falling into a trap thinking that his dyno results on his build will equal everyones else- and it won't ever even with the same parts that he uses...

,....and I got your head today in the mail....

has anyone done a dyno run on an 06/07 with this cam and a full pipe?? basically a stock bike plus those two add ons!!

On WPP's build, retarding the 943/921 pulled the same horsepower, but the torque dropped off badly.

He is back to running it straight up.

This could vary GREATLY on other builds...as Chadwick has already stated.
