i currently have a 14 tooth sprocket on my 400ex. And i geared it down because most of my rides i need acceleration.....however i now drag alot and want to no if anyone here has tried to put on a 16 tooth and what it did for them. My bikes currently tops out at 61 mph on my trail tech computer with my bike bein geared down quit alot. I have a feeling you might lose a good amoount of power, and i may burn the clutch starting off in the long run, but if the performance and top end is good indeed it might be worth it. thanx!!!!!!!

sprockets are cheap, try it,,,but if you need acceleration and drag race alot, then the 14T that you have is what you need,,,

16t for drag racing is too high, for a bigger bored bike a 15t is just right, for a mildly modded bike a 14t up front will work best!
Just like in car drag racing, lower gears are better

I have a 16 tooth front, When I drag race my friends i do pretty well, one has 14 tooth with stock rear, the other has stock front with 39 tooth rear. The only difference is that when we race I just barely have started using 5th gear and they were both in 5th at least 20 yards from finish:devil

I saw a 400 out at Little Sahara with a 16T. It was not stock, but may have been on the stock bore. The stock case saver wouldn't work with it. Aftermarket is mandatory. At least thats what the guy told me.

I curently am running a 16 now but I have moded motor a stock motor will not pull a 16 tooth on top end the stock gearing is probably the best you could run on a stock bike to have the best of both worlds mine just didnt feel like it would pull to the limiter with the 16 on it and stock now it has no probably im currently running 72 mph with a 426 and 16 t

after my 440 i ran a 16 with no troubles but after a couple rides found that it was a little too tall. i have a 37 tooth rear on order and plan to run the stock 15. i think your best bet like many have said is the stock gearing,
