well, when i rebuilt my 400ex i inatalled an ebc clutch kit, worked fine first time out....and ever since i fell like im slipping at high rpms sometimes, on flat ground i dont seem to be losing speed in comparison to rpms but uphill its noticable and if i let off a little bit it grabs again and seems to run fine, i've tried adjusting plenty of times, the basket was fine wwhen i rebuilt it, i use castrol 20-50 4t motorcycle oil....

what are some things that can make a clutch slip at high rpms?

loose springs?
warped springs?
basket wear?
warped steel plates?

any help is appreciated

Did you put the last fiber in offset from the rest of the stack? If they are all in the same slot the clutch will slip.

hmm, i will look into that when i take it apart, the thing thats getting me is it literally only does it at high r's and i dont smell the clutch burning at all

.....and did you soak the new clutches before you installed then into your quad?

EBC are fine clutches....like already asked did you soak the fibers first in oil? Check to make sure that the last plate is indeed offset in the grooves on the basket.

A clutch always tends to slip more at high R's. Did you torque the bolts to spec on the springs? If it is a Brand new clutch, the brand should not matter.

What do you mean offset the top fiber? How do you offset it, it is the same all around.... :o

All of the steel plates and all but the last fiber go in the deeper slots. The last fiber goes in the shallower slot.

Check the repair manual.

Is this only for a 400EX? I can not picture this with a 250X/300EX clutch set-up. :ermm:

The original post is regarding the 400ex. I don't know what other motors if any use a similar set up.

Oh okay. I can't picture that on the 250X/300EX clutch. Never had any real issues with mine.:D
