250f (race) quads

So when are we going to see the mfg.'s start stuffing their 250f race bike motors into an atv chassis. Without the return of the blaster, the outdated 300ex, and suzuki and kawasakis need for an atv in this category, it sure would be cool to have. Suzuki has hinted on it, and the supposed 2008 AMA/ATVA gnc nationals are supposed to be offering a 250 class aimed at this sort of machine. What do you guys think? I think there is a huge demand for this kind of thing .

i also heard RUMORS of a 250 class suzuki ltr

I think it will be awesome, but i'm glad I will be getting out of this class before it happens. Lot's of kids here build these and run them in local 200/300 classes. They are very fast, but they can be beat by 300's. You can really tell the difference on the holeshots and straights. This is a picture of one of my races. Thats me in 2nd and I was prolly only in 3rd gear by the time he had that big of a lead. I think it will be great to have a 250/450 class.

yeah the 250fs are good motor but can be beat by 300s and id put my money on a few built blasters as well

yea i doubt 300's and blasters can hang with the 250f motors, the dirtbike 250f motors are putting out around 30+HP stock, put a pipe, cam and piston its over...

right they put out around 30ish in a dirt bike, but put that into a quad frame and everything and youll be right around the 25-28 hp mark...juts look at the 450s, in a dirt bike they were making around 45ish but in a quad its around 37ish (give or take a couple HP)...a blaster could be built to compete...some blaster can make well intot he 40s HP

I agree about the HP loss when putting the bike motor into an atv chassis, but the 250fs blow a 300ex or blaster motor out of the water when it comes to new advancements and technology. Much lighter, and I believe more potential. But definatly not as bulletproof as a 300ex motor, that's for sure.

All it takes is a good rider to beat one. I don't see why you guys think it's so hard to do that. I have to run against 4 of them almost every race around here. Most of the time one of them usually ends up winning, but not always. They will flat out smoke 300's and blasters in the straights, but there are more than just straight aways in MX. I think it would be great to have a 250 class, It would give everyone a fair advantage to run on the same machines. I just think some of you shouldn't assume so much. Like him being a bad rider...okay...nice comment I guess I cant be a good one :rolleyes: You prolly wouldn't believe me if I told you that was a stock 300 motor either. Lets just say that 250 isn't stock either. I'm good friends with all of those guys. Anyway anyone else have 250f's run at local tracks? I really dont see too many but just in my area.

I would love to buy that quad, but I don't think the grandkids are quite ready for a machine of that caliber.......yet.

were not saying a kid thats a better rider on a 300 couldnt win, but if u have equally skilled riders on a 300 and 250f quad, the 250f will win no doubt, you said it has more power and its overall a better engine then the 300's so equally skilled riders the 250f will win... also the dirtbike motors are not the same as the motors in the yfz and trx, the dirtbike motors use different internal parts, the crf450 have different cams, valves, pistons, CDI's, flywheels and pretty much everything possible different from the quad, they just share the same design

I know your not saying that, I was refering to atvracer9m's post. Yeah defenatley with equal riders the 250f will take the win. I don't think that if factorys come out with 250 quads that they will be as fast as some of you think. They will have it toned down a little, but im sure with a few changes it will rip.
