been lookin for a 50 around my area and i found a 2001 xr50 and a 1999 ktm 50(2-stroke). dont know which kind of 50 the ktm is yet but how do the two stack up against each other, mainly the 2 vs 4 stroke? i rode a kawasaki 65 which is also a 2-stroke and loved the high reving engine. is the ktm anything similar? I'm goin to turn it into a pit bike with the usual, suspension, extended forks, bars, taller seat foam, etc. ive only ridden a 2 and 4 stroke 50 once and that was a while ago and does one make a better pit bike than the other?

You cannot use a ktm 50 as a pit bike. You will burn the clutch up in a matter of minutes riding it.

Yes. It is hard enough to keep them running with a 50lb kid on them let alone a teenager.

yeah, the ktms are for kids, i was out ice riding last year and met a guy and his kid, the son was on a ktm 65 and he threw out his clutch, the dad said they had 4 more clutches on the work bench cause it happens so often, dont get me wrong, i used to have a ktm 450, ktms are awesome, but the minis arent for grown ups, check out 50riders.com for tons of info on building a mini, be prepared to spend $ though, the only thing stock on mine is the throttle, gears and cases, lol
