We picked up the quad from my brothers on the way to wvspeedfreaks house for his sons b-day party. Kevin couldnt get it running and after 30 minutes tinkering with it, I figured he had fouled a plug. The dial-o-jet doesnt allow use of teh choke(until i snipped the lever....lol) so I am sure it fouled this morning when he tried to fire it.

When we got to the party, Jason had the quad out of the truck and a new plug installed and she fired.

how are those dial-a-jets? i was thinking about putting one on mine.

a few laps with a borrowed helmet, a few tweaks to the camber and toe and cody could atleast be able to run her for a few minutes to see how she felt.

cody couldnt do much more then give her a bit of gas in 2nd gear on Austins mini quad track, but it was enough for what we wanted to do.

The shocks do seem to be working very well, bigger jumps will tell the tale, but I think C&D has us hooked up.

The 60 degree day had turned a few corners into slick and muddy turns:p 60 degrees was fading fast as the sun set

Cody was happy to get a chance to throw a leg over his quad

Pappy

He will get plenty of seat time as soon as we finish this project up

how is that dial-a-jet?

Pappy
12-10-2006, 04:48 PM
I will say this right now, the CFM oil tank saved the day. The left side drain plug backed out:eek: If it werent for the extra oil it holds, we would have toasted an engine

With oil pouring out, and way more muddy then we needed to be, we packed her up and started searching for the drain plug. Found it, looked like he lost it on the last 50 feet of track on the last lap. Thanks CFM, and thanks to the big engine god that wasnt wanting to grenade our lil' 400 engine on this day:p

Now its clean up time, and get out the tools to start checking over everything. I have a few more tweaks to do to the quad, some graphics to add, install the Tinner scoops and then we can hit Breezewood for some real fun!

Pappy
12-10-2006, 05:12 PM
he said it was crisp, but he didnt get on it enough to see just how snappy she is. ive used them before, they work well

Quad looks real nice. Don't worry I've seen many a 400ex finish a XC race with no oil plug or an oil tank filled with water mud! Those engines can take a beating and then some.

So you're happy with the C&D rebuilds? They do the travel mod, too, right? I've been thinking of sending all three of mine in, since the rear has never been serviced :eek2: . I'll be getting a nice fat equity check pretty soon, so maybe a little of that will find it's way into my ATV slush fund.

Looks like a nice transitional quad. Cody is getting big!!

12-11-2006, 06:35 AM
The quad is obviously broken.

The young man can't keep it on the ground.

;)

Nice. Thanx for the pics.

hey pappy if there are any parts yall change or something and want to sell let me kno!
o yea how do the tammer hook up?
are they any good and muddy turf

Pappy
12-12-2006, 07:07 PM
tamers work pretty good in most areas. they can be grooved for hardpack and heavy loam etc. we run them because they are cheap and they seem to outlast most mx tires in the same price range.
