i recently built a 440 stroked to 463cc and am deciding what to do for a carb my race buddy has 3 450R carbs and only 2 450R's so he said he would give me a stock 450R carb i know it will fit in there and ive read alot of different stuff on here about how to do it and stuff but my question is how well does it perform??? or would i be better off spending a bunch of money on an FCR? also if i run the stocvk 450R carb will i have to change my thumb throttle do accept the cable from the 450R carb? cause i think it might be a little longer than a stock 400EX cable...

thanks much

I guess the450r is quite an improvement over stock, some people have had success running the 450r carb but i personally love my fcr on my385ex,didnt honda go with the fcr carb starting in 06?that may tell yousomething but if you can get the 450r carb for cheap or free, why not run it;)

I think you'll need a 350x boot.

yep, just use the throttle cable the carb came with and your good, takes a few minutes getting it into the stock boot but well worth it, i run it on my 440 and love it
