Changed an old thread of mine.
New Info:
Im bringing this thread back alive, because I sold that quad, and then decided I wanted another...
Anyways, I now have a 04 400ex with e-series pipe, K&N filter with outerwear, and the airbox lid is on. Elevation is like 600-800 feet.
I've been running like this awhile, and doesn't seem that bad, im going to pull the plug when I get home and check to see what color it is. The jetting is stock in the carb.
Im wondering this because im going to Little Sahara Desert in 4 weeks and going to be running it very hard, dont want it to be running lean at full speed for hours on end.

my current set up is a Stage One Dyno Jet kit. Dynojet needle set on Groove #3 with Dynojet washer about eh E-Clip. Main Jet is a DJ142. Fuel Mixture is at 3.5 turns. Right now when i get off it, it will back fire sometimes. Says i should put a 146. I might be changing it this weekend. Would i be running lean right now then?

a little, but that is from ur pilot circuit. try richening ur fuel screw a little or going up the nxt size on ur pilot.
i would go up on the pilot because u r already pretty rich with the fuels screw....
did u change ur pilot at all? what setup r u running? pipe, filter airbox lid or not? ect...ect...

well, i am not really good with the dyno jet kits, but if u didn't ghange ur pilot, then u need to go up 1 or 2 sizes on ur pilot. the popping on decel indicates that ur pilot circuit is lean.
if u were running keihin jets then i would recomend this.
152 - 155 main
40 - 42 pilot
2 - 2.5 turns out on the fuel screw
needle clip in the 2nd or 3rd position.
