I have tried everything that everyone has suggested and nothing makes it run very good. It is a 06 450er. I put on the HMF Sport Series Slip On. Besides that it is completely stock. I put in a 165 main and a 48 pilot. I think it is too rich so everyone tells me to just take the lid off and it should run perfect. Not even close!! It runs like crap and practically dies if you give it barely any throttle or WOT! I dont even know what to do with the jets. I know i have posted this a couple other times but nothing works!! I have tried searching many times on many sites including HMF and I cant find any info on this. I know someone else has to have this setup!!!

THANKS

I was thinking to maybe bump up the main jet!? Maybe like a 170-175?? Is taking the airbox lid off making it run way lean?

04/05 info won't help him--different carbs.

Thanks for the reply, but like he said, they are completely different carbs.

one more thing. is it possible to take the snorkle out of the airbox lid? And if it is, will that give more airflow?

hold ur horses there...... you got a hmf slip on with your air box lid on right? and you should have something like a 128 main in there???? if u got the lidd off i would say run higher mains..... putting a slip on even try the stock jetting depending on elevation!!! try that man ..

slip on with lid on stock to 128 main jet......

Yup, stock jetting on the 06 (main) is 120.

450s are extremely corked up from the factory!

You should try a 152 main Keihin hex jet not a dyno jet...
A 55 leak jet, stock 42 pilot 2 turns out ... I would also get the HRC needle and but it on the middle clip...
TAKE THAT AIR BOX LID OFF!!!!

yes 450r's are corked up and the hrc kit gives the quad its full potential like it should have..

but a 450r with slip on and with lid on can run on stock jets depending on elvaton and temps... but to be on the safe side a anwhere p to a 130 would do the trick... but my guess a 125 is good. speaking oem kehien main jet.... nothing else is needed for this type of setup, no hrc needl required.

u got another pm.... danni

check the accel. pump take the side cover off of the carb and when you roll on the throttle it should squirt a stream of fuel in the carb. check that and let me know if you are still having a problem

way too rich with 165,

I think the 06 with hrc kit (cam, needle, header, green wire mod etc. only has like a 162 main jet.

Sorry but a k&n filter in with no air box lid for this setup...
You will love it without the lid ...
You will gain some power by putting on a slip on but nothing like a slip on and no lid!!!

Slip ons dont require a huge jump in jetting. Your still way to RICH. Try what Lumi has suggested.

Im running a fmf full system am only had to move up to a 122 (I think cant remember what stock was) It was only 1 up from stock.I need a different needle to get it perfect. You should need a little adjustment on the air screw aswell but 160-170's is WWWAAAAYYYY to big.

Yeah going from the 118 on the 04 450r to a 145 is like going from this -------> . to this ------> * as far as size way bigger. I'd say 145ish should do you atleast w/ my setup HotCams Stage 1, HRC cap airbox lid off and Uni filter runs right at stioch so my A/F gauge tells me.
