Can someone please tell me what the correct way to try and stop some of the bucking in my rear shock. Are you suppose to slow down the compression and speed up the rebound or are you suppose to slow down the rebound and speed up the compression? I have also been told that on the rear that hard means slow and that soft means fast? Is this right? All this suspension stuff can be really confusing.

It depends on when it is bucking. There are a lot of variables. Is it after a long whooped out straight, or just on single rolling bumps. Does it do it off of jumps? I don't know what your riding but you could even need to service or replace the shock, it may have blown.

Hard means slow- the stiffer you have your compression set the "slower" the shock will move through its travel. This wil generally cause a bumpy and jarring ride.

Soft means fast- the softer you have the suspension set up the faster your shock will travel throguh its stroke. This will make the quad feel very compliant over small chop but bottom out over larger g-outs and jumps. Sometimes an overly soft shock will fell stiff because it is hanging so low in the stroke that it will already be in the stiffer part of its valve stack.

The best way to get aquainted with suspension is to write down all the settings you have right now so you can return to them and experiment by turning the compression and rebound clickers and see how it feels to you. If it starts to feel worse you must go the other way basically. If you right down all your settings you will be able to return to them and at least be where you were before if you can't get it to feel any better.

There's some useful info by jwick07 towards the bottom that may help you out also.

My Rear works bucked like crazy, and it wasn't because of rebound. My rear needed rebuilt, but the bladder inside of the res. was shattered into 5 Pieces, breaking the res. seal and leaking all of the oil out of the shock.

What quad are you running? A 450R? If you are dont bother playing with it cause the bucking wont stop until you put something else on there. I suggest the GT Thunder route also with the GT Thunder linkage.

Eh, what do you expect. It's a 300ex. There has to be a way to get some more travel though...
