Axle cleaning??

My axle is lookin' like pooh. It has water spots and an overall "old" look to it. Any advice on cleaning this thing? Steal wool, sand blasting, any liquid cleaners recommended? Thanks.

stock axle?

put it up on a stand. start the bike and put it in first gear so the tires will spin. take a high grit sand paper or steel wool and prep the surface.

then get a towel and put polish on it and wrap it around the axle. move it up and down the axle so you get the entire axle.

i just use step two on my rpm axle. but i am not starting out with something thats in bad shape either.

Yep it's the stock axle. I just put on extended wheel hubs and they are nice and shiny. Makes the axle look even worse. :ermm:
